László Mednyánszky painted Forest Ghost, Lesný duch, in the 1890s. A ghostly presence drifts through a dark forest, half seen, half imagined, in the twilight between the trees.
Mednyánszky was a painter and philosopher who spent years wandering the forests and back roads of Hungary and Slovakia, painting what he found there. The original belongs to the Slovak National Gallery.
The look
Deep forest greens, twilight greys and a pale, drifting figure. Mysterious, quiet and haunting. Dark romanticism wall art suited to a moody bedroom, a dark academia hallway or a study.

This painting stops at A2. Above that size the original photograph loses the fine detail of the brushwork, so the shop does not offer it.
Custom sizes on request. Inch sizes have a slightly different shape from A sizes, so the edges trim a little. Size guide
