Cat and dog paintings

The Victorians loved their animals, and painters made a living from them. Carl Kahler spent about three years studying cats for one canvas, My Wife's Lovers, painted in 1891.

Here are Kahler's forty-two cats, his Three Black Cats and Horatio Henry Couldery's Curiosity, a tabby kitten meeting something new. They suit a living room, a hallway or a kitchen wall.
