About the shop
A curated shop of old paintings with good stories.
The Dark Academia Store sells fine art reproductions of paintings from the 1600s to the early 1900s. It is a small, curated shop. A painting earns a place only if it has a story, a poem, a myth or a mystery behind it.
Our aim is simple: walls with a story. Every print arrives with the tale behind the painting, who painted it and the details worth a closer look. Hang a Pre Raphaelite legend in a reading room or a gothic memento mori in a study, and your wall art starts conversations.
Real paintings, carefully prepared
Each print starts from a high-resolution photograph of the original painting, usually from the museum that holds it. The file is checked at full size before it goes on sale. Real art, not AI: nothing is AI generated or AI modified. Where a photograph cannot hold its detail at the largest sizes, the painting is capped at A2 or A3 rather than printed soft.

Prints are made locally in the UK, Europe, the US, Canada and Australia on 200gsm matte paper, framed in black, white or oak or unframed. Shipping is free and tracked, with no customs fees. Read more on printing and delivery.
